As an update, an amendment has been introduced to include funding
for the ACP in the upcoming Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Reauthorization legislation. The amendment, presented by Senator
Peter Welch (Vermont), proposes a $7 billion allocation to the
ACP, mirroring the funding level outlined in the ACP Extension
Act of 2024. To ensure the continuity of the agency’s authority,
the bill is set to be finalized by Friday, May 10. The extension
ensures the continued availability of funds to support eligible
households, helping to bridge the digital divide and promote
internet accessibility for all communities.
CSAC supports ongoing ACP funding and urges Congress to
establish a long-term broadband affordability initiative to
continue efforts that narrow the affordability gap for all
Californians to access reliable high-speed internet.
